Official ceremonies on the occasion of the coronation of Elizabeth Petrovna in Moscow lasted more than three months, starting with the triumphal entry of the Empress in the first city on February 28, 1742 and ending with the festive fireworks on June 7 of the same year. The main event - the royal wedding in the Dormition Cathedral of the Kremlin, held on April 25, was followed by welcoming audiences, dinners, balls, masquerades, performances of the Italian Opera.
An exhibition of state regalia was held in the Kremlin Palace. Crowded ceremonial processions from the Faceted Chamber to the Dormition Cathedral, from the Kremlin to the winter Imperial Palace on the Yauza, were the most important elements of the coronation ceremony. The publication was first published in Russian, but almost simultaneously the text of the edition was translated intoGerman, French and Latin. The total circulation of the book was 1,550 copies, including reprints.
Elizabeth Petrovna's coronation album is a great sample of the 18th century Russian book's decoration, as well as a masterpiece of Russian engraving and typographic art. This is one of the most luxurious publications in the history of domestic printing. D.A. Rovinsky called it “A detailed description …" "the main monument of Russian engraving at Elizabeth."
