Part I
FINE ART, OBJECTS OF VERTU & JEWELLERY
Hermitage Fine Art selected a variety of paintings and drawings that cover various centuries, starting from the 17th century, and arriving to the contemporary era. Drawings by the Japanese-French Tsuguharu Foujita (lots 717 and 718), gouache drawings by Raoul Dufy (lots 724 to 727), a drawing depicting a girl in a national folk attire by master of Iranian modern art Jazeh Tabatabai (lot 782), several lots by the Austrian surrealist Ernst Fuchs (lots 759 to 761), a contemporary piece by the German artist living in Provence Eric Massholder (lot 786), a set of drawings by the African artist Frédéric Bruly Bouabré (lot 784), a Art Nouveau piece by the German artist Leo Rauth (lot 711), are only a little part of this selection.
Some relevant names in the prints selection are Fernandez Arman (lots 775-776), Salvador Dali (lot 762), Wilfredo Lam (lots 773 and 774), Victor Vasarely (lots 778 to 780), Roberto Matta (lot 770).
Among design objects, bidders will find a collection of Goldscheider and other figurines and sculptures, modern decorative vases, Art Nouveau lights, and glass by masters like Emile Gallé or Daum as well as some wrought ironwork by the Muller Brothers.
A fascinating piece is lot number 825, a 19th century pair of 12-inch terrestrial and celestial table globes by John and William Cary: the brothers are generally regarded as the greatest British globe makers of the late Georgian period. The section will also include a fun collection of vases by Alessandro Mendini, a first edition of “Make Up” vases manufactured for Alessi (lots 815 to 819).
The jewellery collection will feature, among others, some fine Art Nouveau necklaces, brooches, and bracelets, as well as some more modern pieces like a pair of Bvlgari cufflinks (lot 851), a pair of Asprey Testarossa cufflinks (lot 848) or a Pomellato necklace (lot 850).

The Manuscripts sale will present an assortment of letters, documents and collections by personalities known in the field of music, science, history, literature, and art.
To the fans of the beloved Marlene Dietrich, Hermitage Fine Art has put together an important collection of autograph letters, documents, and photographs (lot 955).
To gourmets, we offer a vast unique collection of about 2,500 books, documents and cooking utensils belonging to Eugenio Medagliani, an admired figure in the Italian haute cuisine and international gastronomy (lot 982). Medagliani passed away early last year leaving an incredible collection of books and documents that go from the XVI century to the modern era, covering all aspects of gastronomy. He was a supplier and advisor appreciated by the greatest chefs and restaurateurs, but also by all lovers of cuisine, an intellectual with a passion for history and art, a collector, and a craftsman.
Who likes a good laugh will enjoy lot 963, a collection of photos and documents (letters, contracts, press clippings) from Laurel and Hardy’s one and only appearance in France in 1947, at the Cabaret "Lido" in Paris.
Some other important names that will appear in this third part of the sale are the Count of Volney (lot 904), Robert Edward Lee (lot 913), Auguste Rodin (lots 916 and 917), Mohandas Karamchand (Mahatma) Gandhi (lot 934 to 936), Mata Hari (lot 937), Andy Warhol (lots 992 and 993); not to forget some much-admired photographers like André Villers (lots 987 to 991), Jane Atwood (lot 975) or Inge Morath (lot 984).

East European sale presents paintings, drawings and historical artefacts by various artists from the 19th century to modern art, including emigrated artists, some of them belonging to the École de Paris, a series of 30 watercolours depicting views of Normandy, Provence and Italian landscapes by Alexandre Benois and his son Nicola (Coca) Benois, a French Province by Isaac Levitan with annotation by his brother, “Sailing boats in Constantinople’ by Alexei Grischenko, rayonist composition by Mikhail Larionov and stage design by Natalia Goncharova, as well as Latvian reading girls by Bogdanov-Belsky, Georgian landscapes by Tamaz Kakabidze and Tengiz Mirzashvili, etc.
Decorative objects include Orthodox icons, silver pieces, Faberge, etc. and they will be followed by a wide historic collection of books and autographs from 16th century to modern history, including important book by Siegmund von Herberstein, and much more.
