Illustrations for chapter headings and endings, as well as illustrations on separate sheets, were executed by the artist Alexander Benois In publisher's cardboard binding; gilt edg-es. In good condition. Staining on the binding, tears, and loss of a fragment at the bot-tom of the spine, foxing in the block.
One of the most beautiful Russian artistic publications of the early 20th century. The book was issued in different binding variants: leather, silk, cardboard. High-quality laid paper, colorful illustrations, each chapter has a separate title page and a full-page illus-tration, header, and footer. In 1914, the book participated in the International Exhibition of Printing and Graphics in Leipzig.
This edition marked the first publication of the complete text of A.S. Pushkin's story. Al-exander Nikolaevich Benois (1870-1960) was a Russian artist, art historian, art critic, and the founder and main ideologist of the "World of Art" association.
