Yakov Khalip was an outstanding master of Soviet photography; a famous photographer, master of artistic photography, direct heir to the Russian avant-garde in photography, a pupil of Alexander Rodchenko. In 1938 he participated in the expedition to rescue Ivan Papanin’s team to the North Pole.
