Groucho Marx (Julius Henry Marx) was an American comedian,
famous for his acting method characterized by the fast speech,
the use of puns, a light-hearted irreverence and an ill-concealed
contempt for social conventions. His distinctive appearance
included an exaggerated stooped posture, spectacles, cigar, a
thick moustache, and eyebrows. This photograph depicts him
while hosting You Bet Your Life, a comedy quiz radio-tv series.
