ISAAC MINTCHINE (1900-1941) Château du 18ème siècle

signed ‘I Mintchine’ (upper right), titled and inscribed ‘Château du XVIII siecle, de ma collection mon amour pour la France’ (on the reverse) oil on board 55 x 45.5 cm French painter and fraphic artist of Ukrainian origin. Born in Kyiv to a Jewish family, Mintchine studied at the Kyiv Art School before emigrating to France in 1920. He painted portraits, landscapes, still lifes, domestic scenes. In his work was influenced by primitive art and Marc Chagall. He lived and worked in France.
