“It pleases me to enclose herewith an autographed photograph of His Excellency President Sadate…” gelatin silver print 23,8 x 17,8 cm 1) Typed letter signed by the Director of the Public Relations Department, Mahmoud H. Abdel Nasser. Cairo, 12 July 1979. 1p. blue paper, at the top printed on the right, «Arab Republic of Egypt/President’s Cabinet/Public Relations Department» with in the left corner, the eagle of Saladin. Handwritten inscription: number «1849» upper left corner and date completed with day and month. Text in English. 23 x 16.5 cm 2) White stamped envelope, date postmarks «4.8.79», Arabic text and coat of arms printed in the upper right corner, in green. Typewritten recipient’s address «Mr. Gerard Leman... Tourcoing France». 20.5 x 25.5 cm Anwar Sadat. President of the Egyptian State between 1970 and 1981. In 1977, during a cease-fire, Sadat left for Israel, and thus became the first Arab politician to be received there on an official visit. Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1978, together with Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin for his role in the Camp David Accords. The Egyptian President was shot dead by a commando of Muslim fundamentalists while attending a military parade in Cairo on 6 October 1981.
