group in polychrome enamelled porcelain with gilt highlights, on an oval rocaille base with triple scrolls. The scene depicts a gallant in court dress leaning against an apple tree laden with fruit, courting a seated young woman whose apron is decorated with applied flowers in relief. At their feet lies an openwork wicker basket filled with flowers. In the background, a young girl is picking fruit from the mound. Refined polychrome decoration with finely painted floral bouquets on the textiles. Moulded and decorated in period after the neoclassical model created in 1772 by the sculptor Michel Victor Acier (1736–1799).
Marks: Meissen factory mark ‘crossed swords’ in underglaze blue, historical model number ‘G 1237’, and modeller’s marks ‘178 m’, incised in the soft paste; painter’s number ‘28’ in red enamel on the glaze.

Condition: overall good period condition, with fine freshness of the enamels and gilding, minor wear consistent with age to the tips of the applied foliage, minor accident on the gallant’s ponytail
