Commemorative silver Cup in honor of the coronation of Empress Catherine II, decorated with a Medal of 1762.

Russia, St. Petersburg, unknown maker (illegible marks), 2d half of XVIII century. Silver, casting, engraving, assembling, gilding. Total weight-280 gr. Height - 14.6 cm, diameter - 10.7 cm, diameter of the medal - 6 cm. The side of the cup is decorated with a monogram ‘AE’ inside a cartouche with an overhanging bunch of grapevines, wheat ears and a basket of roses. The bottom of the Cup is decorated with a commemorative medal of 1762 in honor of the coronation of Empress Catherine II. The obverse of the medal depicts the coronation of the Empress with the inscription ‘FOR SALVATION OF FAITH AND FATHERLAND’, ‘CROWNED IN MOSCOW’, ‘SEPTEMBER 22, 1762’. And on the reverse there is a profile of the Empress, looking to the right with the inscription ‘BY GOD’S MERCY CATHERINE II ALL-RUSSIAN EMPRESS AND AUTOCRATIC GOVERNESS’. На тулове кубка расположена гравировка в виде монограммы «АЕ» в картуше из виноградной лозы со свисающими гроздьями, пшеничными колосьями и корзиной роз. Дно кубка декорировано памятной медалью 1762 года в честь коронации Императрицы Екатерины II. На аверсе медали изображена коронация Императрицы с надписью «ЗА СПАСЕНIЕ ВЪРЫ И ОТЕЧЕСТВА», «КОРОНОВАНА В МОСКВЪ», «СЕНТ 22 А 1762». А на реверсе - профиль Императрицы, смотрящий вправо, с надписью «Б.М.ЕКАТЕРИНА II IМПЕРАТ. И САМОДЕРЖ. ВСЕРОСС».
