charming group in polychrome enamelled porcelain with gilt highlights depicting a young shepherd and a peasant girl seated side by side on a stone bench. The man, dressed in a yellow jacket and striped waistcoat, offers a bouquet of country flowers to the young woman wearing a mauve straw hat. At the back, a wicker basket filled with applied flowers in relief. Oval base modelled as a grassy mound. Moulded and decorated in period after the model created by the Meissen sculptor Ernst August Leuteritz (1818–1893).
Marks: Meissen factory mark ‘crossed swords’ in underglaze blue, historical model number ‘G 1287’ incised by hand in the soft paste, modeller’s number ‘139’ and atelier mark in the form of the Greek letter Ω, all engraved in relief.
