Contemporary dedication inscription on the flyleaf. Tamara Platonovna Karsavina (1885-1978) was a Russian ballerina and teacher. She performed as a soloist at the Mariinsky Theatre, was a member of Diaghilev’s Russian Ballet, and often danced with Vaslav Nijinsky. After the October Revolution of 1917, she lived and worked in Great Britain. Valerian Yakovlevich Svetlov (1860-1935) was a Russian writer, ballet expert and historian, theater critic, and playwright-librettist. A bibliophile edition dedicated to the famous Tamara Karsavina and her roles.
