pair of polychrome enamelled porcelain figurines depicting a seated pair of pugs, comprising a male and a female with her puppy. The dogs wear purple collars heightened with gilt and applied bells. Finely modelled and painted, with a particularly naturalistic rendering of the coats. 19th-century casts after the celebrated 18th-century models created by Johann Joachim Kändler for the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory.
Marks: underglaze blue crossed swords Meissen factory mark, the female with puppy bears the incised historical model number ‘315’, corresponding to Kändler’s original model of 1741 (under the base)

Condition: overall good condition, male with damage to one foreleg and the tail.
