A French landscape painter and ceramicist, Jean Charles Cazin moved to England after his studies where he was dee- ply influenced by the Pre-Raphaelite movement. His oeuvre showcases a strong interest for religious scenes and lumi- nous landscapes with figurative subjects.
Cazin became a leader of a new school of idealistic subject painting in France and was awarded the Légion d’Honneur in 1889. Mostly known for his delicate and poetic brushs- troke, he became an emblematic figure of the 20th Century.
