Born in Tehran in 1951, Chahab Tayefeh Mohadjer is a Franco-Iranian multidisciplinary artist working across painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics and design. He settled in France in 1974 and studied Decorative Arts at the Villa Arson in Nice, where he encountered the French art scene and became acquainted with artists including Henri Goetz, James Coignard and Max Papart. His work reflects the dialogue between his Iranian heritage and Western modernism, drawing inspiration from ancient Iranian civilisations as well as from Surrealism. Since 1997, Chahab has lived and worked in Nay in south-western France, where he founded the contemporary art centre La Minoterie in 2000.
