Mark Grigorievich Weinstein (1894–1952) was a Soviet painter, illustrator and art educator. Born in Konotop, Chernigov Governorate, he graduated from the Kyiv
Art School in 1918. During the 1920s, he was involved in museum work and contributed to the development of the Chernigov Historical Museum. In the early 1930s, he headed the restoration workshops at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra before settling in Moscow in 1934, where he taught painting and became a member of the Moscow Union of Artists.
During his later career, Weinstein produced landscapes and genre paintings, as well as a series of watercolours inspired by the literary works of Nikolai Gogol, Anton Chekhov, Alexander Pushkin and Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin. His first solo exhibition was organised posthumously in 1994.
