Valentina Antonovna Lagoda-Shishkina, younger sister of Olga Antonovna Lagoda-Shishkina, Ivan Shishkin’s second wife, became a member of the artist’s household following Olga’s death in 1881. She remained closely associated with the family until Shishkin’s death in 1898 and subsequently played an important role in preserving and cataloguing his artistic legacy.
