Ovchinnikov’ wood, levkas, gold leaf, tempera 22.6 x 18.6 cm Condition: icon and frame in good condition This icon represents a harmonious combination of the decoration of the oklad and the expressive iconographic image. ‘The Sign’ is the image of the Annunciation and the promise of the Birth of Christ: it shows the Mother of God with her hands raised in prayer and the Holy Child in her womb in a circle (Orante-type icon)
