Hallmarks: ‘Minerve’, signed ‘A. Aucoc’, numbered 17 x 7 cm gross weight: 358 gr. André Aucoc (1856–1911) was a French jeweller and goldsmith, brother of Louis Aucoc of the Aucoc company founded in 1821. Passionate about the most prosperous period of French goldsmithing, André collected the most beautiful pieces of 18th-century French goldsmithing. His work includes numerous pieces that are exact historical replicas, both in their design and in the techniques used to make them. He draws inspiration not only from his personal collection, but also from the countless drawings and engravings by Bérain, Lepautre, Ballin, Meissonnier, Germain, Roettiers, Odiot and Thomire that he finds in the archives.
