During the 1930s and 1940s, he made his mark on the history of French cinema through his collaboration with writer and screenwriter Jacques Prévert. Michel Deville is a French screenwriter and director, who won Best Director at the 1986 César Awards for ‘Péril en la demeure’. Christian Maudet, also known as Christian-Jaque, was a French film director, screenwriter and adaptor. He began designing cinema posters in the early 1920s, before moving on to work as a journalist and then a film set designer. He began directing films in the early 1930s, and in 1932 released his first feature film, ‘Le bidon d'or’.
