(Oil on canvas. Background of architecture, on which stands out the full-length portrait of General De Gaulle. On the right a table on which are placed, 1 sabre and 1 book on which he leans his left hand).

Roger Chapelain, also known as Roger Chapelain-Midy, was a French painter, lithographer, illustrator and theatre designer.
He was commissioned by Valéry Giscard d’Estaing (then President of the French Republic) to paint a portrait of General de Gaulle for the Élysée Palace in Paris.
