Koganosky’ (lower right) oil on canvas laid on board 45 x 55 cm Provenance: Myers Fine Art, lot 119 Borodulin Collection JAKOB KOGANOVSKY (1874-1926) was a Ukrainian-Austrian painter of Jewish origin. He was born in Kyiv. He received his initial art education at the Odessa Drawing School. After emigrating to Austria, he enrolled in the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied with Austrian painter Christian Griepenkerl. Later he moved to Germany and joined the Munich Academy of Fine Arts in 1899. He studied under Johann Caspar Herterich, Otto Seitz and Heinrich Johann von Zügel. After the academy, he returned to Austria and lived and worked in Vienna. Koganovsky participated in exhibitions at the Wiener Künstlerhaus (Vienna Artists' House) in 1907, 1908 and 1909, and in 1911 exhibits at the Salon (Kunstsalon Pisko). He died in Vienna in 1926.
