Mi-épaule Mid-shoulder Label: CENTENARY YEAR On 11 May 1853, Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild (1812-1870), from the English branch of the family, signed the deed of purchase that made him the owner of Château Brane-Mouton, 75 hectares of vines in the commune of Pauillac. His new acquisition was immediately given the name Château Mouton Rothschild. To commemorate the centenary of this event, Baron Philippe de Rothschild decided to dedicate the 1953 vintage to his great grandfather. Exceptionally, this millésime was not illustrated by the work of a contemporary painter, but by a medallion of the period representing Baron Nathaniel himself. Provenance: Private wine cellar from a Villa in the South of France (preserved in the cellar with regulated hydrometry and temperature)
