VAN CLEEF & ARPELS VINTAGE ALHAMBRA 20 MOTIFS 18K ROSE GOLD AND LETTERWOOD SAUTOIR
VAN CLEEF & ARPELS VINTAGE ALHAMBRA 20 MOTIFS 18K ROSE GOLD AND LETTERWOOD SAUTOIR
Rare, natural and precious, letterwood has adorned Van Cleef & Arpels creations since the early 20th century. Appreciated for its mottled red colour, it also conveys a symbolism of good luck to which the House is particularly attached. In 2012, the House highlighted this lucky material thanks to a fortunate discovery. In the secrecy of 22, place Vendôme, its historic address, lay an unsuspected treasure: planks of letterwood in perfect condition, acquired more than twenty-five years ago by Estelle Arpels' nephew, Jacques Arpels. Attentive to the signs of good fortune, the House decided to give new life to these precious planks through an exceptional limited edition. Five numbered Alhambra Vintage models were created for the occasion, including this sautoir. Rose gold and letterwood share the limelight, alternately adorning the famous motifs emblematic of luck, health, fortune and true love.
