This book was prepared at the same time as the third (‘Poems about Europe’, 1937), and was announced on the cover of ‘Poems about Europe’. However, the collection did not appear until 1938. Antonin Petrovich Ladinsky (1896-1961) was a Russian poet of the first wave of emigration, prose writer, translator and author of historical novels about the Roman Empire, Byzantium and Kievan Rus’.
