ART NOUVEAU / AESTHETIC MOVEMENT, PAIR OF ENAMELLED OPALINE-LINED GLASS VASES, CIRCA 1880–1900
Lotto 378
150250
Pair of cased blown-glass vases, with an intense, glossy turquoise-blue outer layer and a white opaline lining visible along the upper rim. The necks are shaped into elaborate lobed, star-like forms inspired by organic floral motifs.
The bodies are decorated with hand-painted polychrome enamels in slight relief, depicting large tiger lilies or white lilies with pink-shaded and white petals dotted with red, accompanied by sinuous stems and small golden inflorescences at the base. Textured gilding, applied in small stippled accents, highlights the lobes of the necks and the botanical details, beautifully catching the light.
A small gilt mark or handwritten number on the reverse may correspond to a workshop or decorator’s reference, as sometimes found on French glassware, including pieces associated with the Saint-Denis glassworks (François-Théodore Legras / Mont Joye).
