The first part provides a historical overview of earlier coronations of the Romanov dynasty. The second part offers a detailed account of the coronation of Nicholas Alexandrovich and Alexandra Feodorovna. Included are official documents relating to the coronation, as well as historical essays on Russian coronation rites and regalia by noted historians E.E. Golubinsky, M.I. Pylyaev and I.N. Bozherianov. The chronicle of the festivities describes a wide range of events, including the tragic Khodynka Field celebrations. The rich illustrative programme depicts participants in the ceremonies, imperial regalia, views of Moscow, balls, festive illuminations, the imperial procession, and more.
