Pasternak was aware of the plans for this edition. Originally intended for the poet’s 70th birthday, it ultimately appeared shortly before his death. The volume includes poems from the collections ‘Poverkh bar’erov’, ‘Sestra moya zhizn’’, ‘Temy i variatsii’, ‘Vtoroe rozhdenie’, ‘Na rannikh poezdakh’, ‘Zemnoy prostor’, ‘Doktor Zhivago’, ‘Kogda razgulyayetsya’, as well as excerpts from the poems ‘Spektorskiy’, ‘Devyatsot pyatyy god’ and ‘Leytenant Shmidt’.
