Born in Barcelona, he was the son of the writer Cosme Vidal i Rosich, who was known by the pseudonym ‘Josep Aladers’. Vidal immigrated to Monaco in 1939 due to the Spanish Civil War. He was vice-president of the Monaco branch of the UNESCO Committee on Visual Arts. Vidal illustrated works by Baudelaire, Verlaine, Arthur Rimbaud and many others.
