Jean Negulesco was a Romanian-American film director and screenwriter. Born in Romania, he began his career as an illustrator and cartoonist before moving to the United States in the 1920s. He initially worked as a storyboard artist and illustrator for Hollywood, before becoming a film director in the 1940s. Known for his refined visual sensibility and elegant style, he contributed to classic Hollywood cinema until his retirement. In the late 1960s, Negulesco moved to Marbella in Spain, where he devoted himself to painting and art collecting.
