A Russian painter and graphic artist known for historical compositions and lithographs depicting episodes from the Polish–Russian War (1609–1618) and the Seven Years’ War. He studied at the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg (1900–1908) and was associated with several artistic societies, including the Society for Travelling Art Exhibitions and the Society of Artists Free Arts (1911–1918).
In the 1920s he became a member of several Moscow artists’ associations, including Art to Working People (1925–1928), Wing (1926–1928), and the Repin Society of Painters (1924–1929).
