Egisto Rossi (1824/1825–1899, Florence) was a Florentine sculptor who was renowned for his forgeries of drawings. For a long time, the ‘CR’ owner’s stamp was attributed to the collection of Corrado Ricci, the director of the Milan museum. However, having analysed all the graphic works bearing this stamp, researchers have recently concluded that it was a fanciful stamp used by Rossi to mark his forgeries.
