The Fiodorovskaïa icon of the Mother of God is honoured by Orthodox Christians as a miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary. The original icon is kept in the city of Kostroma, in the Cathedral of the Epiphany-Anastasia (Bogoiavlenski sobor). Legend attributes its creation to Saint Luke the Evangelist. It is also revered as one of the icons of the Romanov family, linked to the election in 1613 of the dynasty’s founder, Michael Romanov, who spent his youth in Kostroma.
