Born in Odessa. Painter—landscape artist and teacher. He studied at the Odessa Art School under K. Kostandi, G. Ladyzhensky, and A. Popov (1885–1890), and later at the St Petersburg Academy of Arts under P. Chistyakov, A. Kuindzhi, and I. Repin (1890–1895). From 1893 he was a member of Church and took part in exhibitions of AH and TURK. A founding member of the K. Kostandi Society (1922), he later taught at the Institute of Construction (1936) and the Academy of Fine Arts (1940).
