Kostandi, G. Ladyzhensky, and A. Popov (1885–1890), and later at the St Petersburg Academy of Arts under P. Chistyakov, A. Kuindzhi, and I. Repin (1890–1895). From 1893 he was a member of Church and took part in exhibitions of AH and TURK. A founding member of the K. Kostandi Society (1922), he later taught at the Institute of Construction (1936) and the Academy of Fine Arts (1940).
