Despite the publication details on the cover, the edition was not published in Russia. It was probably produced much later by the artist’s son in Germany in a limited edition.
Elena Konstantinovna Luksch-Makovskaya (1878-1967) was a Russian-born artist, sculptor, and graphic artist; daughter of artist Konstantin Makovsky. She took German citizenship, worked in Germany, and actively participated in Russian exhibitions. Notable works: “Adolescence,” the sculpture “The Fate of a Woman,” and the series of postcards “Russian Proverbs in Illustrations.”
