Khudyakov’s view differed from that of previous authors in that he sympathized with the Tatar people and portrayed the policies of the Muscovite state as aggressive and colonial. At the same time, he strove to maintain scientific objectivity. Mikhail Georgievich Khudyakov was a Soviet archaeologist and researcher of the history and culture of the peoples of the Volga region.
