Twelve volumes, vols. 5–6 lacking contemporary bindings, the remaining volumes in contemporary half-leather bindings, assembled set. Condition: good overall; rubbing and soiling to bindings, tears and losses to leather along spines, occasional light stains and foxing to text, vol. 6 without title page. The monumental twelve-volume ‘History of the Russian State’, to which Nikolai Mikhailovich Karamzin (1766–1826) devoted the last twenty-two years of his life, covers the history of Russia from its origins to the early 17th century and remains one of the earliest and most influential comprehensive works on Russian history.
