Print run of 265 copies, this one No.191, one of two hundred numbered on Arches paper. 1 vol. large in-4, unpaginated. Paperback, printed and folded covers, title and author in red and black, stencil-illustrated vignette in the centre of the front cover. Illustrated with 15 stencils by Simon Bussy, coloured by Jean Saudé, twelve of which are inset. 34.2 x 28.8 x 2.2 cm Good condition inside, but the cover has a tear at the top of the spine and small stains on the cover. The title ‘Bestiaire’ on the spine is intact. Francis de Miomandre French writer, sixth winner of the Prix Goncourt for his novel Écrit sur de l’eau in 1908, he is also known for his translations of major works of Hispanic literature, notably the works of Miguel Ángel Asturias, Miguel de Unamuno and Cervantes. Simon Bussy French painter, best known for his portraits and landscapes, as well as his animal pastels, rendered with great attention to detail and simplified forms. One of the founding painters of the Nabi movement, alongside Paul Sérusier and Edmond Milcendeau. His works are exhibited in several museums, notably in Paris (Musée d’Orsay) and London.
