signed and dated in pencil 'Alexandre Benois 1951' (center right), inscribed in pencil (along upper edge), watercolour, ink and pencil on paper 22.6 x 15.6 cm executed in 1951 Between 1947 and 1957, Alexandre Benois designed sets and costumes for more than twenty productions at La Scala, including Rigoletto (1953–54).
