The film ‘Ivan the Terrible’ was shot during the war in 1942 and 1943. Sergei Eisenstein's masterpiece is considered to be one of the best films of his career. Lydia Naumova played a key role in creating the costumes for ‘Ivan the Terrible’. Although she had no previous film experience, her talent and diligence were recognised and she helped design the costumes for this majestic film. Some of these sketches bore Eisenstein's signatures.
