Letter from the Queen of Naples having received news of the Russian campaign and in particular of the last victory won by the Emperor in September, the Battle of Moskowa.
Caroline thanks the Archchancellor of the Empire for his support in the affairs of Naples, despite the occupations with which he is burdened; (...) I recognise in this the kindness of character that is so characteristic of you, and which I have always admired in you; I assure you, Prince, that I am infinitely grateful for this proof of your attachment (...) this kind attention that has been constantly maintained since the news became so important. I had a word with the King After the battle. He gave me news of the Emperor. They were in perfect health. May they return soon and may a happy peace be the fruit of such brilliant victories. I need not tell you, Prince, that I am always counting on you to keep me informed of everything (...).
Caroline-Marie Bonaparte, Napoleon’s younger sister, wife of Marshal Murat, Queen of Naples.
