Hallmarks: 84 silver standard, maker's mark in Cyrillic 'DK', assay master's mark in Cyrillic and date '1816' silver, the lid inset with a gilt-metal plaque 8.2 x 9.5 x 2 cm gross weight: 122 gr. On 23 July (Old Style) / 4 August (New Style) 1812, during the Battle of Saltanovka, General Nikolay Raevsky led a bayonet charge with his two young sons by his side. This was one of the defining moments of the Russian campaign against Napoleon. This symbolic episode is celebrated in Russian military folklore as an example of patriotic heroism and familial devotion. By involving his sons in combat, Raevsky aimed to inspire his troops, and his courageous act has become legendary for its personal sacrifice and martial valour during the 1812 Patriotic War.
