RUSSIAN CAVALRY SOLDIER'S PISTOL. MODEL OF 1809, WITH A FLINTLOCK. Russia, Tula Arms Plant, 1812.

Overall length - 43.7 cm; barrel - 26.2 cm; caliber - 1.8 cm The pistol consists of a stock, barrel, flintlock and brass gauge. The pistol stock is solid, made of dark brown wood (birch, walnut) with a long forend, up to the muzzle, without a breech block. The pistol's box is massive, made of dark-brown wood (birch, nut) with a long, muzzle without a ramrod entrance. The barrel is conical in shape, has a round cross-section of the barrel at the muzzle, in the central part, and faceted in the breech. The back of the trigger guard is secured in the box with a screw in a brass oval plate with the monogram of Russian Emperor Alexander I - 'A I' under the Imperial crown. The trigger is fixed on the axis (transverse pin).There is a stamp of the Tula Arms Plant and the year of issue 'Tula 1812'. As a sighting device, the gun is equipped with a rounded-shaped brass front sight. In addition to the name of the manufacturer and the year of manufacture, there are other markings on the weapon, as well as technological stamps: on the barrel in the on the top left are poorly visible marks; on the trigger guard - 'GC' in the rectangle; on the back plate - 'VP' in a rectangle; on the handle - the monogram of Emperor Alexander I under the imperial crown on a brass oval plate. It is difficult to say exactly how many pistols of the model of 1809 were produced. Pistols of the model of 1809, released before 1812 are extremely rare due to combat losses during the war.
