signed with initials in Cyrillic and dated ‘MT 39’ (lower left) gouache on paper 44 x 37 cm executed in 1939 Tatiana Mavrina (1900-1996) was a Soviet painter, graphic artist and illustrator. In the post-war years, she began to paint in a bright, colourful, primitivist style, inspired by Russian folklore. She is also known for her illustrations for children’s books. She was the wife of Nikolai Vasilyevich Kuzmin.
