Misia Sert (née Marie Sophie Olga Zenaide Godebska, 1872–1950)
A celebrated patron of the arts and a central figure in the cultural life of Belle Époque and early 20th-century Paris, Misia Sert was born into a Polish-Belgian aristocratic family. A gifted pianist and muse, she hosted a famed salon that brought together leading artists, writers, and musicians—including Renoir, Proust, Cocteau, Diaghilev, and Stravinsky. Closely linked to the Ballets Russes, she was both a confidante and financier to Serge Diaghilev, playing a crucial role in the development of modernist performance and aesthetics.
