The Carl Thieme porcelain company was founded in 1886 (or possibly 1836) in Potschappel, Saxony, Germany, a region with a rich porcelain-making tradition alongside nearby Dresden and Meissen.
Rising quickly to prominence, the company became one of Germany’s most successful porcelain manufacturers. In 1900, it received a gold medal at the Paris World’s Fair for its exquisite porcelain figurines. The company continued producing high-quality porcelain until its closure in 1935.
