Signature on the second flyleaf: 'To the Society of Physicians.' The first separate edition of the Russian naturalist, founder of the domestic physiological school, and pioneer of the natural-scientific direction in psychology, Ivan Mikhailovich Sechenov (1829-1905). This work was first published in 1863 in the "Medical Herald" journal. The book laid the theoretical foundations of physiology and psychology. It includes one engraved table on a separate insert and an illustration within the text. It is the first book of the scientist.
