MIKHAIL LARIONOVICH MIKHAILOV (1829-1865) – Russian poet, translator, political activist, and feminist. In the late 1850s and early 1860s, he was one of the leading figures of the revolutionary underground in Russia and was arrested for distributing revolutionary proclamations in St. Petersburg. In 1862, he was exiled to the Nerchinsk penal labor camp in Siberia. Among the first to advocate for political equality and voting rights for women, he earned the title of "the founder of the women's question" for his contributions.
