Rubbing to binding, losses to leather on spine and paper on rear board, crack along the title page in the text block, loss of free endpaper, minor soiling, foxing, and ownership drawings within the text block. A satirical and fantastical collection by the renowned writer and editor Osip Ivanovich Senkovsky (1800-1858), founder of Russia’s first ‘thick journal’, Biblioteka dlya chteniya. ‘The witty and mocking sketches of Brambeus, written in the form of travels through Turkey, Bear Island, and Mount Etna, satirized many literary and philosophical trends of the time.’ Bibliography: Sm.-Sok.
