Uncut copy (non massicoté). 4to (28.5 x 23.5 x 3 cm). VIII, 296 pp., 1 l., [2] pp. Text in French. Original printed wrappers, dated M DCCC XCVIII (1898). A fundamental work in bryology, the botanical study of bryophytes (mosses, liverworts, and hornworts), which play a crucial role in ecosystems. Ferdinand Renauld devoted 40 years to this field, with support from Prince Albert I of Monaco, a renowned patron of the sciences.
