Wear on the binding, loss of leather fragments on the spine, minor damage to the leather of the covers, traces of moisture, library stamps on the title and back of the title page. 'Veselaya kniga ili Shalosti chelovecheskiya'– under this title, the first Russian translation of Tobias Smollett's (1721-1771) novel "The Adventures of Peregrine Pickle" was published in 1788. Only the first part of the novel (chapters 1-34) was translated. In June 1788, subscriptions were taken for parts 2-4 of "Veselaya kniga ", and in February 1792 it was announced that these parts "had gone to press", but they never came out (St. Petersburg Gazette, 1788, 13.VI, No. 47, p. 675; 1792, 27.II, No. 17, p. 301).
